As the specialists to this idyllic region, Paul Gauguin Cruises reveals the ancient traditions, breathtaking scenic beauty, easygoing spirit, and warm hospitality of French Polynesia as no one else can. Designed specifically to sail these turquoise waters, The Gauguin also brings on board the Polynesian culture and joie de vivre that only the experts to the region can share. You’ll also enjoy extraordinary value, with luxurious oceanview accommodations, all meals plus select wines and spirits in restaurants on board, room service, watersports, private beach retreats, and entertainment included throughout your voyage.
Beginning in 2017, guests of The Gauguin will also enjoy educational programming for adults and families, provided aboard ship by WCS. Throughout the year, a series of lectures will enlighten guests of the ship about marine science and wildlife conservation in the South Pacific and beyond. Additionally, during the summer months and holiday season, WCS will inspire guests to value nature through an experiential family program. Paul Gauguin Cruises is proud to collaborate with WCS in support of a healthy and sustainable planet.
James A. Michener called Bora Bora "the most beautiful island in the world," and his Bali Hai, immortalized in song in the musical South Pacific, is believed to have been modeled on Moorea. Painter Paul Gauguin came to Tahiti for inspiration, and W. Somerset Maugham’s novel The Moon and Sixpence was inspired by that artistic journey. French Polynesia continues to create wonder in those who visit—and you can experience it in just one week on our best-selling itinerary.
All along the way, you’ll enjoy warm Polynesian hospitality, luxurious amenities, gourmet dining, and our extraordinary all-inclusive value—all at savings of 50% off standard cruise fares plus included roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles

On this Ensemble Experience you’ll discover the beauty of the ever-changing colors of Bora Bora’s lagoon on a covered snorkeling boat or motorized outrigger canoe.
Departing from the pier, you’ll cruise past the ancient rim of Motu Toopua, and by the famous Motu Tapu, to drop anchor on a shallow sand bank. (Motu means island in Tahitian.) Here you’ll discover the undulating elegance of the harmless stingrays. While your experienced guide hand feeds them you’ll be amazed as they glide effortlessly around you.
Following this peaceful play with the rays, you’ll cruise through crystal-clear waters to the next stop outside the lagoon where you can swim among black-tipped sharks.
While it is usually safe to swim or snorkel here and a guaranteed thrilling experience, you won’t miss the show if you stay in the boat. The sharks can be seen from a safe and dry perch on the boat if you’re not comfortable getting into the water with them.
You’ll then motor to your next stop at a coral garden. Beautiful multi-colored fish such as the parrot fish, butterfly fish and trigger fish will be swimming over the reef. While you can see them from the boat, you’ll be able to snorkel in depths ranging from 4 to 5 feet with the chance to admire the tropical fish, just as if you were in an aquarium. You can relax and admire the natural beauty of the unspoiled marine life that surrounds you.
Finally, your guides will arrange a stop to rehydrate with fresh fruits, water, juice and soft drinks. After, you’ll return to the pier.
As with all creatures in their natural environment, we cannot guarantee their presence. For you own safety and to help preserve the environment, when snorkeling, do not touch or step on the coral reef.
